Hello all,

Just a quick update on two items. First, and most excitingly, after ultimately rejecting the case wrap file due to misalignment at the printer we've received a new proof and will be sending it back as approved after the holiday. Here's a look at the final cover:

Next, in preparation for the arrival of the books your Backerkit surveys will be charged this Wednesday, July 5th. Surveys will be locked at that time but you will still be able to change your mailing addresses. We'll give you roughly 1 week's warning before we lock mailing addresses.

As you have likely noticed, Backerkit surveys have been sent! Please note the following:

While your card will be collected for shipping charges you will not be charged until approximately July 5th. 

Your shipping addresses will not be locked until just before shipping begins. I'll notify you all here to give you a final 72 hour warning to finalize your shipping information when the time comes.

There will be a Seattle-area release party! If you're in the area and would like to pick up your rewards at the event instead of paying for shipping please PM me and I'll make a note of it.

Soft proofs arrived, survey imminent!

I'm pleased to say we have received our soft proofs much sooner than expected! This is essentially an unbound version of the book's interiors with the cover on paper stock (not the hard board it will actually be printed on) and separate end papers. This is essentially a final pre-flight check for us to ensure that the book's layout is suitable for production and that we are happy with the paper stock/printing processes. We are taking a few days to thoroughly proof before sending any notes we may have to the printer next week. So far, we're very happy with things and expect to send a very light round of notes back next week. Take a look for yourselves!

In other news, our survey is complete and will be sent out sometime next week. Backerkit's software is experiencing a bug importing our backer list but we expect to have that sorted out soon. When surveys go out you'll be asked for your credit card info to be charged for shipping but you will *not* be charged yet. Cards will be charged for shipping in late June and you'll have a chance to update your shipping addresses if need be at that time, as well.

I'll post an update next week when surveys go out next week. Thanks again, we're getting close!

April Update

I'm excited to say that as of this week our files have been approved by the printer, the deposit has been paid, and we are officially at press!

Here's a peek of the final cover design, as well! The book itself will see the title and cover image given a glossy spot UV treatment that should be really beautiful.

In the next 6-8 weeks we will receive proofing copies which I will certainly share here as soon as we get them. In the meantime, I'm also happy to say that I've recently hired an expert logistics consultant who I am working with on shipping, and international shipping in particular. It appears our final cost for US backers who ordered only the book will be likely be $8. International costs being worked on but likely to be more than $45 but less than the $75 prices we're seeing for most countries at counter rates. She and I have a meeting later this week and then we'll begin sorting out the details at which point the Backerkit surveys and pre-orders will finally go live.
